Takahashi/Tran teamed up in July 2007. She moved to Canada to train with him. They are the second pairs team from Japan to medal at an ISU Championship (2010 Junior Worlds) since Yuko Kawaguchi/Alexander Markuntsov won silver at the 2001 Junior Worlds. Takahashi took up skating following her elder sister Misumi who competed on the Japanese Synchronized team until 2010. She lived and trained for five years in China as the family moved there for work. The couple also lists Sylvie Fullum and Manon Perron as their coaches.
