Demireva is the younger sister of 2006 and 2007 Ice Dancing World Champion Albena Denkova. Kurakin competed for Estonia until 2004. His elder brother Dimitri was also a competitive ice dancer at the international level. Demireva/Kurakin withdrew from the 2008 European Championships before the Free Dance as she was sick.
