Czisny began skating at one and a half years when her mother started taking skating lessons. Her twin sister Amber was also a figure skater and competed at the international level. Czisny is studying international studies, Russian and French at university. 1988 Olympic Champion Brian Boitano (USA) and 1994 World Champion Yuka Sato (JPN) are part of Czisny's coaching team.
