Rubleva/Shefer have been skating together since 1994. They switched coaches in spring 2006. Rubleva's parents Svetlana Bakina/Boris Rublev were ice dancers as well and competed at the international level. Rubleva/Shefer withdrew from the 2006/07 ISU Grand Prix series because Shefer suffered from appendicitis and underwent surgery.
